In 1953, when Temple Beth Israel in Sharon was near its peak membership, religious school enrollment was 140 students. While Religious School Committee chair Harold Rosenblum was “personally disappointed” in this figure, he saw the potential for growth through the addition of a 10th grade and the need to hire an assistant to help the rabbi manage the course load.
