Rodef Shalom Congregation in Charleroi, Pa. broke ground on a synagogue on Washington Avenue in 1926. The ceremony included speeches from Rabbi G. A. Elefant of Donora, Pa. and Rabbi Harry J. Stern of Uniontown, Pa. Inside the cornerstone, the congregation placed a copy of its congregational records, a Bible, an American flag and a Zionist flag.
